Remembering Eamonn Ryan

We took a trip down memory lane last Thursday when TG4 repeated their documentary on the great Eamonn Ryan entitled An Máistir. The 2nd anniversary of Eamonn’s passing was on January 14th and whilst it was great to see him again, out thoughts are with Pat, Kathleen, Mary, Jim and his wider family for whom his anniversary will always be a sad time. Seeing the impact Eamon made on everyone he met from past pupils, club & county players to neighbours and friends was again tribute to the mighty man he was. His legacy lives on through the playing of GAA in Watergrasshill and Glenville and indeed when everyone walks through Cúinne An Máistir, we immediately think of Eamonn. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

2023 Membership opening soon

Our 2023 club membership will be opening soon and we would encourage everyone to renew as soon as possible. Our playing, non-playing and social membership options will be available again this year. It’s not just important for players to complete their membership for insurance and registration purposes, but social and non-playing members are just as important to ensure we have up to date member numbers, this help with Capital grant applications to GAA organisations and external private funding to help us continue to develop the best possible facilities for our community.

Upcoming Awards Night

We will have what thankfully, has become an annual event on January 27th next when we have our Watergrasshill & Glenville Juvenile medal presentation event in Kade’s County, Glenville. The fact that we have this event now every year, is testament to the great work being done at underage level within both clubs developing great teams, which hopefully in turn will maintain playing numbers across the clubs as players transition to the adult ranks. From a Watergrasshill perspective, we will have presentations to our U-13 (East Cork D1 Shield), U-15 (East Cork League & D2 Championship) and U-17 (East Cork D1 Championship) teams. Please do come along and support the event, it always a great energising experience seeing the under-age teams rewarded for their efforts.

Lotto

There was no winner of the Lotto Jackpot this week. Numbers drawn were 3, 9, 22 & 32. Lucky dip winners are Eileen Martin, Mary O’Regan, Karen O’Mahony & Mary Sweeney. Congrats to you all. Next week's jackpot is €2,200 and draw will take place 30th January in The Fir Tree Bar. Tickets are on sale in some of the village businesses like The Hut Bar, The Fir Tree, Johnny's Shop and our new Lotto stand in Ross's Centra. Tickets can also be purchased on-line via our club website (www.watergrasshillgaa.ie). The Club would like to take this opportunity to thank all our members and supporters of the Watergrasshill GAA Club Lotto. The Club Lotto is a vital source of income for the running of all our teams within the Club and for future development of our facilities, so we ask you to please support it if you are in a position to do so. Remember, if you’re not in you can’t win.
