Results Round Up
It has been a very quiet week from a hurling perspective for on-field activities but a hectic week behind the scenes in preparation for this year’s Cúl Camp.
Our U-12 boys hosted Carrigaline in Glenville last Tuesday evening in very hot conditions. The boys were very impressive and put in a great dominant display in very difficult conditions coming out on top 5-10 to 3-3. The U-12 team have had a great year thus far and are improving week on week. It’s great to see their dedication to training and matches but also to hear the enjoyment they take from every session – well done boys and good luck for the remainder of the season.
Our U-11 boys made the short trip to Rathcormac last Wednesday evening to play our neighbours Bride Rovers. Another very warm evening but with 20 kids travelling, we had 2 teams of 10 playing 2 x 25 minute games. Another very impressive outing for this group with particular emphasis on hooking, blocking and work rate without possession, the boys turned over some great ball and got some great scores as a result. Those key skills combined with their ability to hold and score from their own possession is great to see from such a young team – well done boys.
Cúl Camp 2022
Cúl Camp 2022 finally got underway this week on Tuesday morning as unfortunately, due to the Orange weather warming and potential for thunder and lightening during camp hours, the organizing committee took the very difficult decision to postpone the start until Tuesday. Not a decision that was taken lightly, but with the safety of both participants, coaches and parents as the primary concern, one which had to be taken. With over 200 kids registered, we’re sure the week will be a great success and we will have some updates on our Social Media channels during the week as well as our club notes next week, so stay tuned.
Well done Cormac
Big well done to Cormac McCarthy who travelled to Carlow last weekend to compete in the All-Ireland long-puc finals as part of Community Games 2022. On what was one of the hottest days of the year, it wasn’t to be on this occasion for Cormac. It was a great experience for him and everyone involved with the club congratulates him for his achievement on reaching the final. Well done Cormac, we’re sure there are brighter days ahead.
An Cupán Tae
As you may have noticed, our newly opened match-day café “An Cupán Tae” is now up and running. An Cupán Tae is based in our clubroom and will be open on match-days providing tea, coffee, soft-drinks and snacks. Keep an eye on our social media channels for detailed opening hours and please do pop in and say hello and grab a snack before, during or after one of our upcoming home games.
Lotto
There was no winner of the Lotto Jackpot this week. Numbers drawn were 1, 5, 7 & 13. Lucky dip winners are Mary O’Regan, Pat O’Leary (Carraig Na bhFear), Mick Mullan & Claire De Lacy. Congrats to you all. Next week's jackpot is €3,100 and draw will take place Monday 22nd August in The Hut Bar. Tickets are on sale in some of the village businesses like The Hut Bar, The Fir Tree, Johnny's Shop and our new Lotto stand in Ross's Centra. Tickets can also be purchased on-line via our club website (www.watergrasshillgaa.ie). The Club would like to take this opportunity to thank all our members and supporters of the Watergrasshill GAA Club Lotto. The Club Lotto is a vital source of income for the running of all our teams within the Club and for future development of our facilities, so we ask you to please support it if you are in a position to do so. Remember, if you’re not in you can’t win.
