Hill duo shine bright for Cork

It was an exciting week for the Club with two clubmates, Shane Og O Regan & Daire O Leary, named in the starting fifteen, for the Cork U20 team. They took on Kerry in the opening round of the Munster championship and came through on a score line of 2-24 to 2-10 now setting up a Munster semi-final against Limerick. Shane Og is of course familiar to this set up having had a great year last year with Cork in their run to an All-Ireland final. Both lads made a big contribution on the night, with Daire hugely impressive in defence, contributing four points & Shane starting top of the right and nabbing three great points. It was a great honour for the lads and their families and a big night for the club having two players wearing the red of Cork. Congrats lads, everyone associated with the club is hugely proud. Best of luck for the reminder of the championship.

Lotto

There was no winner of the Lotto Jackpot this week. Numbers drawn were 9, 17, 31 & 32. €20 lucky dip winners are Joe O Callaghan,  Angela O Connor, Shane Buttimer & Nora O Connor. Congrats to you all. Next week's jackpot is a cool €5,100 and draw will take place Monday 26th October. Tickets are now once again on sale in some of the village businesses,  like Centra & Johnny's Shop. Tickets can also be purchased on-line via our club website (www.watergrasshillgaa.ie). The Club would like to take this opportunity to thank all our members and supporters of the Watergrasshill GAA Club Lotto. The Club Lotto is a vital source of income for the running of all our teams within the Club and for future development of our facilities, so we ask you to please support it if you are in a position to do so. Remember, if you’re not in you can’t win.

AGM

It will soon be that time of year when the Club AGM comes around. Given the current situation, it is highly unlikely that we will be able to host a physical AGM this year, therefore, in keeping with Croke Park guidelines, we will host an “incorporeal” AGM on Sunday 29th November at 2.30pm. So, what does this mean? Each member will receive an email, containing the various reports from the year and any questions or queries are to be sent to the Secretary within a week of this date. The Executive will then have a two-week period to respond. The guidance from Croke Park is, where possible, current Club Officers hold their positions for a further 12 months. We will however accept nominations for Officers for 2021, from members, should there be any you wish to make. The Club appreciates this is unprecedented, we do however have to take the safety of all members into account and act in accordance with the guidance from Croke Park. More information will be sent to Club members in due course.

CongratsWell done to Juvenile club players, Tadhg McCarthy, Jack Counihan and David Barry representing the Glenville U12s and winning the East Cork U12 kicking competition in Carrigtwohill last weekend, seeing off some very stiff opposition. Each of the clubs had a team of 3 representatives throughout the day which is a fantastic initiative and expertly organised under the guidance of Conor Counihan. The 3 lads finished top of the pile. They now progress to the County Final next weekend. Well done lads and to your club coaches .

Calling on The Hill Diaspora

Have you family or friends who once upon a time played GAA in the Hill but now live in some far-flung corner of the world, like Australia or Leitrim? If you know of someone I’d love to get in touch (you can direct message through the club FaceBook page or drop me an e-mail to pro.watergrasshill.cork@gaa.ie ) to hear their story (if you don't mind sharing) and maybe bring them back closer to family and friends still living here in Watergrasshill.
