In a game of two halves in Passage West this evening our U16's suffered their first league loss of the season by two points. The first half belonged to Watergrasshill, who started brightly and took the lead through a Mike O' Driscoll point from play. With midfield dominating, the team went in at half-time on a scoreline of Passage 0:04 to Watergrasshill 0-13. The second half belonged to Passage who never gave up at any stage during the contest. Four goals from 2 penalties and open play swung the fixture in favour of Passage, who took the lead with 5 minutes to play, outscoring the Hill by 4-05 to 0-06 in the second half to finish with a deserved two point victory. Our U9 hurlers traveled to Castlelyons last weekend along with St Catherine’s and we played 4 very competitive games. Thanks again to the 26 players who traveled down, they really enjoyed their mornings hurling. Thanks also to the parents who traveled in support and to Castlelyons for hosting. Thanks also to all of the coaches who helped out, especially to Marie Mcdermott who’s done a great job as the teams Covid officer.

Nursery

Last Saturday saw the return of our U6's to hurling (& football) action. We delayed the return of this age group while we got other older age groups back and ensured we did so with safety at the forefront of our minds. There was great interest from parents to get their young sons into GAA action so Liam Tracey and his U7 coaches facilitated the return of the younger kids last weekend. Well done to all our enthusiastic U-6 nursery players who returned to the field. The damp, foggy morning didn't deter these heroes of the future and there was plenty of enthusiasm, energy and friendship on display. Many thanks to all of the parents & coaches who gave their Saturday morning to ensure our youngest stars got back to action and a special mention to Paud O Neill for arranging this. Paud has done Trojan work with our Nursery over the years and is a great club man.

Pitch Signage & Advertising Opportunity

As we enter a new decade, we do so with great optimism and excitement here at Watergrasshill GAA Club. Later this decade we will celebrate our centenary year, which will be a special milestone. While its important to celebrate the past and the history of the club, its also important we look forward to the future. With this in mind, the club will shortly be undertaking a development project, to prepare the club for the future and further position ourselves at the centre of our community. Part of this project, will be the development of our existing club grounds. To that end we will endevour to raise a revenue stream from advertising, while giving businesses the opportunity to advertise their services and reach a wider audience within our community. With the playing numbers on the increase our facility will be a busy spot over the coming years and we would love to have your name and business positioned in the hearts and minds of all those who visit on a weekly basis. We are offering advertising space via pitch signage, 3000mm wide x 750mm high. These are a 5 year gloss laminate, flash mounted to 0.2mm skin diabond sign. If you would be interested in this opportunity to advertise and support our club, please contact Claire O Leary on 087-6239297 or any member of the club who can provide assistance.

Can you help us win a share of €30,000? Ryan’s SuperValu Glanmire continuing in their efforts to Champion Green and support local, have launched the Ryan’s Local Loyalty initiative. This is aimed at local GAA clubs and offers us a great opportunity to get much needed financial support to run the club. Over the coming week we will distribute the loyalty card and we hope you will consider using it and support Watergrasshill GAA by joining us in this great campaign from Ryan’s SuperValu. Thank you for your support if you can.

Members & Trips Abroad:

We would ask playing and non playing members returning from trips abroad over the coming weeks, of all ages, not to attend the pitch, training or matches for a period of 14 days after your return as per Public Health Guidelines. We would encourage all members to download the HSE Covid tracker app and maintain the guidelines around social distancing, hand washing etc Thank you"

Hard Luck

Hard luck to Glenville Intermediate Footballers who were beaten 1-15 to 1-11 by St. Finbarrs in the Intermediate Championship round 2. They still have Milstreet to come in round 3 and best of luck in that game lads.
