Give respect, get respect

As the shameful events in Roscommon over the past week unfolded, first via social media and then through the mainstream media, the respect we show to those involved in officiating our games has never been so prominent. As an association, every person who gives their time, does so for the benefit of our association and our community and attacks, be they physical, verbal or otherwise are absolutely unacceptable and not something we should entertain in our association.

Our clubs ICARE values of Inclusion, Community Identity, Accountability, Respect and Excellence are the foundation of the inclusive, respectful environment we want to maintain in our club, community and association and your support in upholding these values is greatly appreciated & indeed expected.

Fé13 boys take shield

On Saturday afternoon in Mayfield, our U-13 boys claimed the Rebel Óg East D1 League Shield with a comfortable 7-13 to 4-6 win over St. Colman’s. Despite the final score, the opening 20 minutes of this game gave little insight into what was to come. St. Colman’s opened the scoring with a pointed free on 2 minutes, however the Hill boys settled to add 7 un-answered points to lead 0-7 to 0-1 after 15 minutes. St. Colman’s added a goal on 21 minutes to leave the score 0-7 to 1-1 but it was all one-way traffic from there. With Tadhg McCarthy carrying the ball to devastating effect and Liam Sheehan rock solid at Full-Back, the boys had added 3 goals before the break to lead 3-8 to 1-2 at the half-time whistle.

On the resumption, the damage was well and truly done within 3 minutes when 2-1 was added in the blink of an eye to leave the score 5-9 to 1-2, but the high work-rate continued led by captain Josh Madden at center back and Dylan Joyce & Matthew Counihan at half-forward. As the 2nd half progressed, all of the panel got a run and the younger players certainly played their part in closing out the win.

It was a fantastic display from the boys and some of the energy, skills, passing and awareness on display was brilliant to see. Congratulations to the boys & great for them to get some reward for the work they have put in all year. Well done to their coaches also and a big Thank You to all of the parents who have supported the boys throughout the year.

Busy week for our U-10’s

It’s been a busy few weeks for our U-10 boys, fresh out of Cúl camp in August and straight into games. Last week the boys played 2 games against Erin’s Own with 22 players across the 2 games. They then went on to host Kilworth and Blackrock in a blitz last weekend with 17 boys playing 13-a-side. Some great hurling on display over both sets of games and the skills, energy and teamwork is visibly improving week on week, so well done to the boys and keep enjoying your hurling.

U-15’s through

Well done to our U-15’s who topped their Championship group with a solid 5-22 to 4-11 win over Lisgoold last week. The boys now progress to the play-offs where they will hopefully get some silverware to top off a great season for them thus far. Well done and best of luck for the upcoming semi-final against Erin’s Own.
