Munster Victory for Hill Heroes

Last week proved to be another very proud one for everyone associated with Cumann Iomaniochta, Cnocán Na Biolraí. As the Cork U-20 team were crowned Munster champions defeating Limerick on a score line of 1-26 to 1-24 in a nail-biting encounter on July 28th, we congratulate Dáire O’Leary and Seán Desmond who both picked up winners medals.

This is Dáire’s second Munster honour in a row having won another in December last year with club-mate Shane O’Regan and also going on to end a 23-year wait with Cork winning the All-Ireland U-20 championship for the first time since 1998, defeating Dublin in the final on July 10th. It goes without saying that everyone associated with the club are extremely proud of Sean and Dáire, whose had work and dedication are being seen and rewarded on the inter-county stage. Whilst the eagerly awaited All-Ireland final against Galway is currently in doubt, we wish them both the very best of luck and we’re sure that both Dáire and Seán will do themselves, their families and their parish proud when the game eventually goes ahead.

It has been a rewarding 12 months for our juvenile club with players selected to represent Cork at U-20 level (Shane O’Regan, Dáire O’Leary and Seán Desmond) and Minor Level (Brendan Lehane & Michael O’Driscoll). Our younger members are very excited to see Cork players representing our small parish and in doing so they are inspiring the next generation to keep on working hard and enjoy their hurling. Whilst representative honours are testament to the hard work being done across the club at juvenile level to develop players, everyone who volunteers their time to promoting Gaelic games across both Glenville & Watergrasshill should take great pride in the success of these young men.

Lotto

There was no winner of the Lotto Jackpot this week. Numbers drawn were 14, 23, 30 & 32. Lucky dip winners are Eileen Lane, Shane Norah O’Riordan, Maria Cuffe & Humphrey Collins. Congrats to you all. Next week's jackpot is a cool €9,200 and draw will take place Monday 21st June. Tickets are on sale in some of the village businesses, like Centra & Johnny's Shop. Tickets can also be purchased on-line via our club website (www.watergrasshillgaa.ie). The Club would like to take this opportunity to thank all our members and supporters of the Watergrasshill GAA Club Lotto. The Club Lotto is a vital source of income for the running of all our teams within the Club and for future development of our facilities, so we ask you to please support it if you are in a position to do so. Remember, if you’re not in you can’t win.

Pitch Signage & Advertising Opportunity

As we enter a new decade, we do so with great optimism and excitement here at Watergrasshill GAA Club. Later this decade we will celebrate our centenary year, which will be a special milestone. While it's important to celebrate the past and the history of the club, it’s also important we look forward to the future. With this in mind, the club will shortly be undertaking a development project, to prepare the club for the future and further position ourselves at the center of our community. Part of this project will be the development of our existing club grounds. To that end we will endeavor to raise a revenue stream from advertising, while giving businesses the opportunity to advertise their services and reach a wider audience within our community. With the playing numbers on the increase our facility will be a busy spot over the coming years, and we would love to have your name and business positioned in the hearts and minds of all those who visit on a weekly basis. We are offering advertising space via pitch signage, 3000mm wide x 750mm high. These are a 5-year gloss laminate, flash mounted to 0.2mm skin diabond sign. If you would be interested in this opportunity to advertise and support our club, please contact Claire O Leary on 087-6239297 or any member of the club who can provide assistance.
