Hurling League 18.03.19 2019-03-19 14:29:00

Our Intermediates played Blarney in Rd 3 of the Hurling League last Monday, March 19th in Blarney. In what turned out to be a lovely afternoon for hurling both teams served up a very competitive and closely contested game. The first score of the game arrived after 4 minutes of play and went the way of the home team, but the Hill were soon on the scoresheet with a point from Shane O Regan after 7 minutes. The Hill wouldn’t fall behind from thereafter and a big moment of the first half came mid-way through, when Chris Healy struck a lovely goal, clinically despatching a shot low to the keepers right. Chris would add another two points onto the scoreboard as well as Shane O Regan adding 3 points to his opening score, to leave the score at half time, Blarney 6pts, Watergrasshill 1-6. As expected, Blarney came out in the second half determined to draw back the deficit and did tag on some scores early on. However, our lads should great bottle and team spirit and points from Shane O Regan, Don O Riordan and Anthony Cronin in the second half kept us out front. A big moment in the game came towards the end when Blarney got a goal after a fortuitous goal mouth scramble however not long after Watergrasshill worked a goal chance of our own which resulted in a penalty which Shane excellently despatched. So in the end, our 3 point lead at halftime was maintained and we ran out winners on a scoreline of 2-10 to 1-10. It was a great team performance and a deserved win in the end. Well done lads.
